Obituary for Albert Billings

Albert Billings (AKA Jimmy Whiffletree, Henry Gladstone, Eggerbert), 77,
of Westfield, passed away on September 4, 2020 in Presque Isle at the
Aroostook House of Comfort after a two year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Albert was born in Mars Hill to Gordan and Marie (Bell) Billings on
December 31, 1942. He attended high school at Presque Isle High School
and was proud member of the Class of 1961. After high school he went on a
delivery run to Fort Kent for his employer Fox and Ginn where he met Sadie
Pelletier. They were married in 1965 during a snowstorm and would have
celebrated 55 years of marriage in November. Although he never went to
college, he would often tell people he had a PhD – potato house degree. For
many years he worked for H. Smith Packing in Mars Hill as the packing
house manager where he gained many lifelong friends. After leaving H.
Smith Packing he went to work at Agway and Irving. Prior to his retirement
in 2018 he worked for Crop Production Services. During his younger years
he enjoyed playing softball with his many friends and family. His team was
always the one to beat. Although he was small in stature and had short legs
they never failed to get him around the basepath. He was a season
basketball ticket holder at PIHS and enjoyed watching the teams play and
eating a bag of the best popcorn in town.
Albert is survived by his wife Sadie, his three children and their
spouses/significant other Bruce Billings and Keri Plourde of Presque Isle,
Bryant and Melissa Billings of Wisconsin, and Lynn and Shawn Dube of
Perham. He is survived by his two sisters and their spouses, Paula and Dana
Bell of Texas, Bonnie and Jim Kinney of Westfield, his brother and his
spouse Rickie and Peggy Billings of Presque Isle as well as his in-laws
Marcie Daigle of Fort Kent and Florida, Vivian and Howard Voisine of St.
John and Ben Pelletier and Jane Fletcher of Fairfield. He was blessed to
have six grandchildren – Alexis Billings, Duncan Billings, Kaden Maxwell,
Kristen Dube, Ellen Billings, and Dacota Dube as well as three great-
grandchildren Lincoln Jones, Declan and Alec Billings.
Due to COVID precautions, private church services for the family will be
held 1 PM, Friday, September 11 th , 2020 at the Westfield United Baptist
Church with Pastors Shelli Good and Jack Stewart officiating. Family and
friends are invited to attend burial services at approximately 2 PM at
Marshall Cemetery in Westfield. Arrangements are by Bowers Funeral
Home in Presque Isle.

The family of Albert wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff and
doctors at Aroostook Cancer Care for their care of him over the past two
years. They would also like to thank the staff and doctors as the Aroostok
House of Comfort for their care of him during his final days.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given in Albert’s name to the
Cancer Care Patient Assistance Fund and mailed to Northern Light AR
Gould Foundation, PO Box 931, Bangor ME 04402-0931.
