PRESQUE ISLE - Patrick “John” Powers, 82, died peacefully at his home in Presque Isle on May 14, 2020.  He was born on March 17, 1938, the son of Nelson and Blanche (Gervais) Powers.  Following graduation from Presque Isle High School, he served 2 years in the US Army.  After his discharge, he returned to Presque Isle and made his home with the Allen family.  He engaged in potato farming for several years, then he became interested in building construction. This led to starting his own business as Powers Plumbing and Heating Company. He was a devout member of St. Mary's Parish where he served several years on the cemetery committee. He was also a board member of the Northern Maine Fair Association for several years, where he served as a superintendent of Draft Horse Pulls and participated in the organization of George Allen Memorial Pulls. He was a board member of the Presque Isle Snowmobile Club and involved in many of their fundraisers and events.  John will be remembered as a caring son, dependable brother, and loving uncle.  He is survived by his beloved partner in life, Dorothy Allen of Presque Isle, and by his brother Roger Powers of Sharpsburg, MD, as well as several Powers nieces and nephews. He is also survived by loving brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews of the Allen family. John had a number of dear friends who were very special to him, especially Hank and Helena Ford and family.  He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Nelson Powers.
A funeral mass and memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.  Donations may be made in John’s memory to the Aroostook House of Comfort P.O.
