DYER BROOK - Barry Clyde Higgins, 79, passed away Sat., Aug. 31, 2019 in Olathe, KS. He was born Feb 3, 1940 in Island Falls, ME. He was the son of Raymond Phillip and Lillian Amber (McLaughlin) Higgins. He attended Essex Agricultural high school in Essex, MA prior to joining the Navy in 1958 and was assigned to the ship USS Bristol. He retired from GTE Sylvania after 30 years of service to them. He retired to the family homestead in Dyer Brook ME, then worked as a Code Enforcement officer for several towns in the Aroostook County.

Barry was a beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was active in his community, a friendly neighbor who would help by plowing snow in the winter, lending a helping hand for projects, or serving coffee from his prized Bunn. He was a member of the Smoki Hauler Snowmobile Club in Oakfield, ME, the NRA, and was in the American Legion. At the Snowmobile Club he helped groom the trails, and enjoyed the Pot Luck Suppers.

Barry was married to Donna Higgins for 30 years when she passed away. They lived in the Dyer Brook farmhouse that his grandparents had owned with their giant shaggy dog, Porkchop and his two cats, Smith and Wesson. The coffee was always on and he was usually ready to play cards, talk business or just sit and gossip. He never met a stranger.

Barry was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Linda Smith and Bonnie Maskery. He is survived by his four children Jeff Higgins (Debbie), Mark Higgins, (Aileen) Andrea Logan (Wiilliam) and Michelle Elton (Mike); his grandchildren Michael Higgins, Rachel O’Brien, Connor Logan, Emma Logan, Sarah Higgins, Brandon Guerrero, Titus Elton and Victor Elton; his great-grandchildren Ronan, Loralye and Thomas. He is also survived by his stepchildren Wendy Fuller, Herbert Fuller, Jr and Amy Fuller; and step-grandchildren Shyane, Skylar, Herbie III, Jarod and Olivia.
