HOULTON - James W. Young, 97, passed away June 9, 2018 at home with family. He was born November 17, 1920 to William and Elizabeth Young in Houlton.
Jim was a member of Local 340 teamsters Union, was a long-haul trucker up and down the East coast for 50 years. He was an active member of the Houlton Odd Fellows, holding several offices over many years. He was a WWII veteran, serving in Europe and was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed bowling and playing cribbage with family and friends.
He is survived by 3 sons, Carl and his wife, Rebecca of Fort Fairfield, Vaughn and his wife, Hanori of Oak Ridge, NJ, Gregory of Houlton; a daughter, Patricia Young of Houlton ; 5 grandchildren, Alison Stone and her husband, Damon of Houlton, Audrey Lonsway and her husband, Peter of Ashburn, VA, Gabriel Young of Oak Ridge, NJ, Gwen Becker of Long Island, NY and Brian Becker and his wife, Erica of Pembroke Pines, FL; 6 great grandchildren, Jeremy, Joely and Janey Stone of Houlton, Ridge and Traver Lonsway of Ashburn, VA and Nicolas Becker of Pembroke Pines, FL. Jim was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Opal A. Young (Wilcox).
Friends may call 12—1 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water Street, Houlton where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. with Rev. Greg Jackson officiating.
