HOULTON- Joseph Russell Socoby, 86, passed away on January 4, 2018 at Houlton Regional Hospital surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He was born on November 12, 1931 at Pleasant Point.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, his beloved Red Sox, fishing, bingo and good food. He was a loving father, proud grandfather and great grandfather and a caring friend to all he knew. He was very proud to have worked for the Houlton Police Department as a Sergeant and Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department.
He was predeceased by his wife, Autice, whom he met in the potato fields in Monticello, ME at the age of 16.
He is survived by 2 sons, Stephen Socoby and wife, Ann of Bangor and David Socoby and wife, Sherry of Houlton; 4 daughters, Janet Vose and husband, Dana of Houlton, Jane London and husband, Steve of East Hodgdon, Joana Hagerman and Joann Wallace and her fiancé Walt Gilpin of Houlton; 15 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren.
Joseph battled diabetes and heart disease for most of his life. He will be forever missed by all.
